Practical advantages of CyclO2
Should I wear a helmet?
CyclO2s are electrically assisted bicycles and meet the regulatory requirements which allow our customers to use them like conventional bicycles. Also, wearing a helmet is not obligatory even if for safety reasons, it may be advisable.
Should you take out insurance?
Considered as bicycles, there is no registration plate and no compulsory insurance to take out.
Can I use the cycle paths?
Obviously
What is the maximum speed of CyclO2s?
European regulations allow 25km/h, a speed that you can reach. Beyond that, the engine is cut off and your pedaling continues happily. You will regain support as soon as you return below this limit.
Is there any standard equipment that makes your CyclO2 electric bike a practical bike?
Yes, on the new range, a basket is provided; it is even foldable for the foldable model, Incredible, right?
A small additional anti-theft device is installed on each of our models: Practical for going to buy a baguette or have a coffee on the terrace. But be careful, at this price, don't skimp on purchasing a good anti-theft device!
Finally, diode lighting (LED) is provided: No more dynamo that slows down the progress of your bike in the middle of the night; In addition, our lights can be unclipped if you want to take them with you.
Battery
What is the battery life?
Depending on its use and the weight of the cyclist and whether you use Eco or Max mode, between 20 and 35 km for NiMH batteries; which is often more than sufficient for a daily intercity journey or for a trip on vacation. And more than 40 km for our model running on a lead-acid battery. Each bike comes with a small charger (17x10x7 cm) that you can possibly carry.
Are there any precautions to take in case of prolonged non-use?
Yes, we recommend charging the battery to the maximum, once a month
Do I need to charge the battery after each use?
No, it is possible to reuse it as is.
What to do if the battery is discharged while driving?
All you have to do is pedal; which is easy since the motors installed on our CyclO² models are automatically disengaged and have 5 speeds at the handle. You will be surprised by how easily you can pedal without assistance.
But be aware that you are informed of the battery charge level by indicator lights located on the handlebars. It’s up to you too to be vigilant!
How to charge the battery?
Simply remove the battery from its holder and charge it at home or in the office. Its extremely light weight of 4 kg, for Ni-MH batteries, makes it transportable by all our customers, including women and retirees.
For the Lead battery, even if its weight is greater, this operation remains possible; you can also recharge any type of battery without carrying it if you have, for example, a garage with a power outlet
How long does it take to charge this battery?
If the battery needs to be fully charged, it takes 4 to 5 hours or even overnight if you wish: This does not matter, the charger stops automatically as soon as the battery is charged.
For the Lead battery, allow 8 to 12 hours.
Are there any recommendations for the use or storage of these batteries?
Yes and they are important if you want to keep your battery for a long time.
For lead batteries, frequent deep discharge must be avoided.
For the NiMH battery, you must recharge it every two months if you are not using it.
In all cases, even if there is no memory effect, avoid “bottle-feeding”, that is to say systematic recharging after short distances.
How long does the battery last?
The parameters (weight, type of use) being important, we must talk about range. Knowing that we can recharge the NiMH battery 400 to 500 times and the Lead battery 300 to 350 times, we can therefore travel between 8,000 and 15,000 km for each battery.
Use of CyclO2
How to start your CyclO2?
You turn on the ignition by turning the key and at the first pedal stroke, the electric assistance will start.
Do I have to pedal during the route?
Absolutely ! but the electric assistance makes pedaling easier. Otherwise, we would no longer be talking about bicycles but already about scooters or motorcycles and you would lose the advantages mentioned above…and then, it’s good for your health!
How do I know if my battery is properly charged?
An indicator light attached to the handlebars lets you know where you are.
Can you ride in the rain?
Yes, safely. The various electrical parts and in particular the battery are completely protected.
Is there a user manual?
Yes, in French, which details in particular the procedure to follow during assembly and the essential advice for the proper use and maintenance of the CyclO2 so that your bike accompanies you for as long as possible. Failure to follow its recommendations would limit the proper functioning of your bike and authorize us not to apply the parts guarantees to which you are entitled.
Approval
Why are CyclO2 certified as compliant?
Because a legal decree No. 95-937 of August 24, 1995 obliges French manufacturers or importers of cycles to meet the requirements of the French standard NF R 30020. This standard certifies that the bicycles sold comply with safety requirements for the user. This is important in the event of an accident and will allow you to be insured for civil liability with your insurance company.
Only bicycles or electric bicycles meeting this standard may circulate on public roads.
For our part, all our models have been certified as “compliant with safety requirements” by the LNE (National Test Laboratory), based in Trappes (78).
